It has been reported to the St. Vincent and the Grenadines Human Rights Association that a Female Police Officer has alleged that she has been raped and indecently assaulted by this Country’s Prime Minister. This allegation is rather grave and serious.

We in the St. Vincent and the Grenadines Human Rights Association are calling for this matter to be treated like any other matter without fear nor favour and allow justice to prevail. [More...] PDF File

Welcome to the Website of the Saint Vincent and the Grenadines Human Rights Association (SVGHRA). We are an organization which has promoted and protected human rights continuously and fearlessly since 1986. The SVGHRA is run by a five member central committee consisting of a President, Vice-President, Secretary, Public Relations Officer and Co-ordinator\Treasurer.

We are pleased to be able to present our work in the past, the present and hopefully in the future to the world, especially to other persons and organizations who promote human rights and justice. For those of you who may not know about Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, it is an Independent State in the Eastern Caribbean, a member of CARICOM and also of the United Nations. Its close neighbours are the States of Grenada, St. Lucia and Barbados.

With the help of the Swedish NGO Foundation for Human Rights, the SVG-Human Rights Association is now on the World Wide Web. This would enable us to share information with other organizations of similar interest, and make our work more transparent. Also, for 2004, two of our Executive Members – MR. Victor Cuffy, President, and Ms. Jeannie Ollivierre- P.R.O. will be working with UNIFEM as resource persons in its work involving Human Rights, Economic Empowerment, HIV\AIDS and Violence Against Women.
