LEGISLATIVE FRAMEWORK

The Saint Vincent and the Grenadines Human Rights Association (SVGHRA) was founded in June 1986. Its avowed aim is the promotion and protection of human rights and fundamental freedoms.

The Constitution of the SVGHRA provides for the governance of the Association to be vested in the Annual General Meeting of members and its management by a Central committee which holds office for two years. The Central Committee comprises the following officers:

  • President
  • Vice-President
  • Secretary
  • Public Relations Officer/Education Secretary
  • Co-ordinator/Treasurer

The Constitution of the Association covers the general conduct of its business and addresses such areas as elections and removal of the members of the central committee, meetings of the central committee and the general body, quorums for general and special meetings, duties of officers of the Central Committee, procedures at Meetings, appointment of Auditors, signatories to accounts and by-laws.
