ACHIEVEMENTS

Some human rights work and activities done by the svghra during the past ten years.

HUMAN RIGHTS EDUCATION BY:

• Weekly publication of human rights articles in the press, some of which were on prison conditions, corporal and capital punishment and workers rights.

• A radio-program on human rights issues for a duration of five minutes, five days a week called “Human Rights and You”.

• The showing of television films on the Rights of the Child followed by discussions on the same programs.

• Visits were made to almost all the Secondary Schools in St. Vincent and the Grenadines to promote awareness and respect for the principles set out in the Convention on the Rights Of the Child.

• Several Workshops were held on the Rights of the Child. Those workshops were held sometimes in collaboration with UNICEF. An important topic was - “The Convention on the Rights of the Child : What does it mean for Vincentian Children?”
