CONSTITUTION AND ELECTORAL REFORM AND GOOD GOVERNANCE

The Electoral system in St. Vincent and the Grenadines is based on the “First past the post” system as in Britain. But, in some close elections where there is a two party system, the winning party ends up with a majority of seats but with sometimes with as much as 10% less votes than the defeated party. Some adjustments need to be made to correct this.

In the same way, the SVGHRA is in agreement with other organizations and political parties that reform of our Constitution is necessary in order to advance a more democratic and inclusive system of governance.
